Male Longlure Frog Fish

Nothing better than taking a swim in your friends' back yard and finding a bright yellow male longlure frog fish! I passed by him three times, along with the larger purple frog fish right next to him. Thankfully my dive buddy has great eyes! She spotted the yellow. The purple frog fish was so well camouflaged I only saw her when she wiggled her tail! Taken at Playa Grandi, Curacao.

Caribbean Reef Squid in the Curacao Blue

Curacao's blue waters often see the squid, usually in a silvery pattern. I almost missed this particular fella as I never expected him to be so colourful (nor so patient) in the daytime. Often they will change to these more mottled colours at night when the diver's light shines upon them. I was fortunate this day as he made for a colourful shot.

The Lembeh Sea Dragon

The Lembeh Sea Dragon! These tiny Pygmy Pipe Dragons were discovered in the Lembeh Straits at the end of 2006 and are another example of the incredible variety of life in northern Sulawesi. This picture was taken on my last dive at NAD house reef where we found two. They are tiny, about only 5 cm (1 inch) long and thin like a thread. Talk about ending on a high.
